Congrats to the Grads! Profiles in Success—2015

Sophia Traina: Ready to work!

Sophia Traina’s prayers for a job after graduation were answered—by the New Jersey Devils.

The Georgian Court University business administration major begins a full-time job with Newark-based professional hockey team as soon as she graduates.

The job offer grew out of an internship in early 2014. Within months, the Devils organization offered her a part-time staff/event accountant position, giving her valuable experience in accounting and in the Prudential Center’s operations.

“I have worked UFC events, and concerts with Stevie Wonder, Fleetwood Mac, Demi Lovato and others,” says Sophia, who begins her new full-time job the day after graduation. “Without GCU, I would not be where I am today,” she says, giving credit to GCU School of Business faculty members Dr. Cathleen McQuillan and Dr. Bertram Okpokwasili. “They motivated me to reach for my dreams and this is by far my dream job. My next goal is to become a tour accountant and represent artists on the road.”
