How Do Georgian Court’s Gardens Grow? Beautifully!

Georgian Court University is participating in National Public Gardens Day 2015 with a free walking tour Friday, May 8, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Garden enthusiasts should meet outside of Jeffries Hall at the sidewalk near the parking lot (rain cancels event).

According to the National Public Gardens Day Web site, the annual celebration raises “awareness of the important role botanical gardens and arboretum play in promoting environmental stewardship, plant and water conservation, green spaces, and education in communities.”  GCU joins the national observance by offering tours of the Sister Mary Grace Burns Arboretum, including the university’s four historic gardens, its native and exotic trees, and the Wellness Garden. The university was also recently featured in Gardner News, where a feature story on the arboretum appeared (see p. 11).

To learn more about GCU’s historic arboretum, call 732.987.2373 or contact Dr. Michael Gross, associate provost for Academic Program Development and professor of biology.

“There were probably says when you had to get from one corner of the campus to the other with only a few minutes to be on time for class. On those days you may have thought, ‘Is this class in the next county?'” Juniors and seniors laughed out loud and nodded their heads.
